West Norfolk Artists Association collaborates with King’s Lynn Purfleet Brasserie to promote the visual arts

A new collaboration between Purfleet Brasserie and the West Norfolk Artists Association (WNAA) in Lynn will provide a venue for the visual arts.

Last week, an official event was held at the Brewery on Tuesday evening, attended by West Norfolk Mayor Lesley Bambridge.

The Mayor showed his support for the new collaboration with brewery owners Emily Maginn, Sam O’Callaghan and members of the WNAA.

This first exhibition features the work of WNAA artists Lesley Williams and Izzy Wingham. and is open daily at noon.

Lesley Williams said: “With Customs House now used as a gallery space by Greyfriars Artspaces and the Fermoy Gallery next door, this is an exciting development for the visual arts in Lynn.”

On the evening of the event itself, the Groundwork Gallery on Purfleet Street also opened.

Lesley Williams said, “Veronica Sekules also opened Groundwork Gallery for the evening, so people could stroll between the two art venues.”

The WNNA was formed in 2000 to promote the visual arts in West Norfolk.

It is open to artists of all levels, from students to professionals.

The aim of the artists’ association is to support its members, encouraging a sense of community.

A Purfleet Brasserie spokesperson said: “We are very pleased to be collaborating with artists from West Norfolk and would like the town and surrounding area to know that we will be featuring talented local artists in the restaurant on an ongoing basis with regular art exhibitions for each artist.

“Our website is currently being modified to display a gallery and blurb for every artist we have had in the restaurant so far and we will continue to update it with every new artist who also collaborates with us. .

“We are thrilled to have such beautiful artwork on display and for sale on our premises and look forward to our future with the WNAA.”

Lesley Williams added: “Everyone involved is very excited to start this collaboration and for Purfleet Brasserie to become an arts centre.”
