Strip star Terry Fator finds new life at the Loft
Liberty Loft is the most coveted place on the Las Vegas Strip that you don’t know. Unless you’re a Vegas artist looking for a unique showroom in a 4,000-room resort.
New York-New York elevated site is finally put to the test as a flagship site, with none other than Terry fator moving into the room on August 11. The 11-year-old headliner wraps up her limited engagement at the former Zumanity Theater on Sunday night. His new residence went on sale Saturday, with shows at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday (tickets cost between $ 49.99 and $ 65.99, less fees).
Joined on Saturday, Fator said he was unable to speak formally about his future with MGM Resorts International. He has been with the company since 2008, when it opened at the Mirage. He was created as a limited-engagement headliner at the New York-New York Theater, which will host a production-in-residence likely by the end of the year.
For the uninitiated, Liberty Loft is a lift with great potential. The room overlooks New York-New York sports betting, located on the second floor above Tom’s Urban near the hotel entrance overlooking the Strip.
Over the past half-dozen years, artists and producers have been setting their sights on the venue, examining its viability as a theater or paid showroom. Dating from 2015, Frankie Moreno kicked the tires while searching for a residence on the Strip. Marc Shunock checked out the location, before developing The Space as a community destination. Melody Candy reviewed the play after she left “Absinthe” (Sweets took the sportsbook chart for a reading of Wall Street stocks).
It’s easy to see the reason for all the interest. The venue has enough space to host a show with an average capacity of 400 to 500 seats. It’s in a busy hotel on the lucrative corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. An artist with an inventive mind could make Liberty Loft something special.
But MGM Resorts has never partnered with an artist or a show. It makes more sense from a profit standpoint to keep the venue available only as a revenue center for private events. The closest show we saw in this space was Cirque du Soleil’s One Night for One Drop pre-party in 2017, when the production itself was staged at the Zumanity Theater.
The room could be cool, if entry / exit issues are addressed. The aforementioned elevator (well, two of them) is the only way to access the place. But Fator always said he could shape his show to 50 or 5,000. He’s watching about 400 now, upstairs with a Lofty opportunity.
Hammond, Mohr postponed
COVID concerns pushed back the July 30 comedy show with Darrell Hammond and Jay Mohr at Notoriety Live in Neonopolis. Club owner Ken henderson reports that the two stars want to push back the series until the numbers are more lenient. Favorite column John di domenico is also on the show, produced and hosted by Christine Peake and also starring the Vegas club comic Kris shaw and the Russian model / actress / stand-up Eugenie Kuzmina.
Bruno does not move
The word from the Park Theater is that Bruno Mars’ upcoming shows on Friday and Saturday are still very active. The superstar recording artist missed her shows this weekend for “unforeseen circumstances,” suggesting the postponement was related to COVID. No confirmation of such. The dates for March have been moved to August 27 and 28.
The answer is 45
To the question “How many pounds has Governor Steve Sisolak lost during COVID?” That’s the figure he shared on Saturday at the #VivaVaxVegas vaccination event at Linq Promenade on Saturday. Sisolak appeared alongside Penn & Teller. As the governor said, between his weight loss and Penn Jillette’s 100-pound loss, they lost Teller.
Return of Romas
It’s “Sexxy” time again at the Westgate Cabaret. Jennifer romas the adult review is back, as previously reported, starting August 6. The show will take place at 10 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Romas and the hotel have teamed up since the show opened in January 2015. The new release will feature the only male / female dance number in a Vegas ticketed adult magazine. Romas plans to team up with her boyfriend, Rico Bozant, in the new issue, which was teased with a scorching effect on the couple’s social media. It is also the first male / female erotic scene number in a strip show since “53X” took place from March to November at the Chateau de Paris Las Vegas.
‘Sexxy’ Relaunch Completes Westgate Cabaret’s List, With Magician NS Kramer, R&B group “Soul of Motown”, new family rock ‘n’ roll act Bronx The vagabonds, and the return of the standing star George wallace in the theater again occupied.
During COVID, Romas also developed a spin-off “Sexxy” show at Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club. This production will continue to operate. But Romas sees Westgate as his home of entertainment, understandably, as the owner. David Siegel has shown his loyalty to the production since Romas introduced him to the “Sexxy” concept in November 2014.
“Westgate has been our home since the show started in January 2015 and the team are delighted to be back on our stage,” Romas said. “Our return to this iconic resort is another indication that Vegas is back, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Amy saunders effectively got rid of the “Miss Behave Gamesshow” rust over the past two weekends at the Majestic Repertory Theater in the Arts District. Saunders and his flexible tattooed co-star Tiffany sold-out for all four performances instead of Main Street.
The show is reserved for those who have proof of vaccination. The new format pits Moderna against Pfizer, with the two teams sharing the room. Anyone vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson is pushed to the wings. In one game, an audience member from either team frantically associates the names of cast members from the “Friends” cast with characters from the show. This, while the theme song plays on an ear piercing level.
It’s pretty much the same vibe Saunders brought to The Back Room at Bally’s in July 2017, before she turned her attention somewhere more welcoming. Saunders is built for the Arts District, as well as for Fremont East, where she worked as the Commonwealth Entertainment Director for Ryan doherty and the management of the bar area.
And after? Probably more performances of “Miss Behave” throughout the fall. Founder of Saunders and Majestic Troy heard (whose name is a full sentence) have formed an inspired partnership. Look for more ideas this year from these two, and more from Miss Behavior. As they say, the show without rules, rules.
