‘And we will sing again in the tall grass’ / Sidro on Saturdays
Visual arts, Music, Food
If you haven’t yet seen the ambitious group show on display at The Front Gallery in San Ysidro, grab your chance at the new monthly Sidro Saturdays festival taking place this Saturday.
“And We Will Sing Again in the Tall Grass: Postcolonial Futurities at the End of Gender” opened in early July. The works – by thirteen artists from Southern California and the border – include films, paintings, photographs and videos, even seeds planted in a deep dirt graveyard.
I spoke to the Conservatives last month, and this is a really thoughtful, off the beaten path option during Pride Weekend.
There are also a lot of other things to do in San Ysidro: music, more art and food.
Details: Sidro Saturdays take place on July 17 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Front is open from 5 pm to 8 pm 147 W. San Ysidro Blvd., San Ysidro. Release.

From the organizers:
The third Saturday of each month from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
From Low Rider Meetings to the Organic Food and Plant Market, this next Saturday we want YOU to join us and celebrate San Ysidro.
At The Front, we’ll feature a variety of art sellers, vintage collections, vinyl collectors, poetry readings and more.
Then, a short walk away, we welcome you to our brand new Living Rooms At The Border, a new performing arts center where you will meet organic harvests, plant vendors and ceramic works.
But these are just a few events happening simultaneously on our SIDRO SATURDAYS. Make sure to scan your QR code to access all locations from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In partnership with The FRONT Art Gallery, Living Rooms at The Border, BLK Box Gallery [@blkboxgallery], Restaurant El Rincón [@elrincon.sanysidro], San Ysidro School of Music, San Ysidro Valve Houses, Hoppy Daze [@hoppydazesd] & South Bay Tap House [@southbaytaphouse].
As the very first, SIDRO SATURDAY, we invite you to meet with us every third Saturday of each month in commemoration of the arts, music and culture of our community.
The dates and times of events are subject to change without notice. Always check the event organizer’s website for the most recent schedule before attending. Check local COVID-19 restrictions and updates.
